lots of good stuff in nyc!

Over the summer, I had the opportunity to visit the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. It was incredible to actually be in the space after learning about it, and seeing so many pictures. The building itself was just as much a work of art as any of the pieces on display, so it was almost overwhelming to take everything in. Aside from just being there, it also happened to be during the 50th anniversary; the entire way up the spiral in the areas overlooking the rotunda, there were hundreds of Frank Lloyd Wright's drawings, renderings, plans, and models of almost every building he'd designed. Sadly, no photographs were allowed above the ground level, but I did manage to sneak a few from the top looking down.. how could I not?!




I also had the chance to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and was ecstatic to see many of the chairs and artifacts we studied in history and theory last year! (as well as some amazing modern art pieces.. my favorites were the Rothko's) The museum is home to Nothing Continues to Happen, the Zigzag chair, MR Chair, Wassily chair, an Eames molded plywood (with cow hide), Charles Rennie Mackintosh's washstand, and a few others. Very exciting, as I had no clue that those would be there; the whole thing was a great experience. (Photos were allowed at this one!)
