For my pencil box project, my idea was to build a container that could be changed and made shorter as you sharpen the pencils. I came up with a box that has layers that can be taken off or put back on whenever you need them.
In the bottom picture, the one on the left was my first iteration, and the one on the right was my second. The first time I made it (using cardboard and tape), the tabs were horrible, and the cardboard kept squishing and peeling. The second time, I had a few issues with the top layer of matte board tearing when I tried fitting the tabs all together. I also made the bottom layer larger than all the others in these, and not tall enough for what I was going for.
In my final iteration, I was very careful with the matte board and made sure not to let it peel, and I also painted the outside of all the layers white to cover up my working mess. I am pleased with the end result!
